When starting out, we look to the internet for refuge, we skim and scan through every website and every video we can find. Looking for a person who’s in close proximity with our lifestyle so we can mimic their methods, since we know that wigs and extensions can and will look scruffy if we’re not careful.
Because let’s be real, it’s one thing to own a wig and it’s another to maintain it.
As promised, here are some tips that will help keep your wig and extensions new and healthy.
A Wash Day
It’s really not rocket science, it’s as simple as treating your wig or extensions the same way you would your actual hair. Shampoo, condition, moisturise and when it comes to drying, I recommend air drying. Blow drying can cause potential heat damage. However, if you have hair masks that you use for your hair and would like to use them for your wig or extensions, then knock yourself out.
So since we’ve established that we’re treating our wigs and extensions the same way we would our hair, this means we can style it as such as well.
A comb
Survival rule number 1: where is your comb?
Days can get pretty intense and pretty taxing. And your hair is always a strand away from revealing the stress to the rest of the world. With a brush in your purse, you can comb that strand back into place. And remember not to comb the hair so harshly. Harassing a wig or extensions is bad for business, the hair will begin to come off and will begin to look like it was hit by a balding hurricane lol. So be as gentle as you can.
And please use a detangling brush, you’ll save me from a world of worry.
